Hwy 39 "AKA" Azusa Canyon is one of the best canyon to ride in SoCal. It has beautiful views where you can pull over and enjoy some good scenery shots. Besides the views the best part of Azusa canyon are the twisty roads it offers. Azusa canyon is home to the Famous Gravel Tower and The TREE, at this two locations is where you can find most motorcycle riders hanging out. The Gravel Tower is the place to meet new riders and connect with other motorcycle enthusiast, The TREE is the highest turn out and view that is accessible road by motorcycle and cars because the road is blocked of since 1978 due to mud slides. The cool part of azusa canyon is that if you get hungry or thirsty you can ride up to the Azusa cafe and grab your self a delicious breakfast burrito or a hotdog if your trying to not wait in line to long. This is Hwy 39 is a very fun road to ride because it offers every type of turn you can image for all type of riders, from novice to expert and food at crystal lake cafe. But, as fun as it can be there are some turns that can challenge even the best riders, so beware and ride at your own comfort zone. Azusa canyon road is split into two parts.
First part going up the canyon from N San Gabriel Canyon RD / Rock Spring Way to East Fork Road, the turns are not that sharp and you are able to see the end of the turn. This section is not as challenging which makes this part of the canyon a perfect spot to warm up.
second part that start from N San Gabriel Canyon Rd / East Fork Road, the turns get a bit more challenging but nothing too crazy. But, be careful with two turns, the first turn comes 3.3 miles after passing East Fork Road, this turn has taken a lot of riders down because it's a very sharp right turn and you will go wide if not prepared for the turn . The second turn comes 8 miles after the East Fork Road, this turn is also a sharp right turn and same with the last turn if you are not prepared for it you will go wide and their is very little for error because you do have motorcycles and cars on the other lanes. Remember don't cross the double yellow line and ride your ride, don't follow or chase anyone if not familiar with the road.
